.... at you at the end of a day of our English-speaking riding camp, when you pick up your child from this little paradise for kids (and of course, for horses). There are ponies with names like Abahatschi, Happy Achully, Mogli, Grappa and Dornröschen, the most important one here.

Our All-About-Horses program includes cleaning, saddling, tacking, leading, riding the horse and theory, in total 3 hours a day. The other 3 hours will be devoted to English, when your child will learn words and sentences that of course first and foremost have to do with horses and riding…

Our Horse Riding Camp is wild and pristine – close to nature since we are riding outside. The Birkenhof Riding School houses ponies of every size so that even the smallest child can find the perfect horse – to allow your child to confidently interact with the animals!

Saddling – Tacking – Riding

We combine English with another activity and have fun learning both. When learning English, you don’t have to forego your favorite sport. You can learn both while having fun: cleaning, saddling, tacking, leading, riding the horse and theory on one side, and on the other, learning all of it in English plus much more that you can use every day.

The riding instructors at the Birkenhof Riding School (Reitschule Birkenhof) introduce you safely to the horses and show you how to scrape out the hooves and groom the horse. On the horse, the beginners will learn how to sit correctly on the horse and hold the reins and how to show the horse what it should do. The more advanced students will receive real riding training to improve your skills.

In the English training, the most important thing is to use what you have learned in school, so there is no grammar cramming or memorizing vocabulary. You will have to use the English you have learned in games, quizzes and puzzles. Of course a few grammar topics will be mentioned, but speaking is main goal. You will be put into groups by age and your prior knowledge of English. In general, groups are not larger than 6 to 8.

The camp takes place each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We have a picnic with the kids every day for lunch, where each child will receive something to eat. We also offer a shuttle service between 8 and 9 a.m. and 4 and 5 p.m., where we will shuttle the children with the public transportation.

The kids don’t need to have any riding experience to enjoy our Horse Riding Camp. We lead the children without experience carefully to interact with the horse and give them their first chance to get on the back of the horse. Children who already have experience riding receive specially tailored riding training. The riding instructors decide at the school how to bring the kids into contact with the animals.

Location

The Horse Riding Camp takes place at the Birkenhof Riding School in Lochhausen. The school does not have a riding hall but it does have some rooms for the riders. Most activities as well as the riding will take place outside. If it rains, the theory and English instruction will be inside.

Shuttle Service

Finding a riding stable in the middle of the city that is easily reachable for everyone is unfortunately not possible. We looked around Munich and found the perfect place filled with warmth and cheerfulness. Though Lochhausen is not exactly off the beaten track, it is not just around the corner, so we offer a shuttle service. We will be glad to accompany your child. We will all meet at a central meeting place and from there we will accompany the children (maximum 5 children per escort) to the riding school and back again to the meeting place at the end of the day.

29 May to 1 June 2012, € 300 for 6-9 year olds and for 10-12 year olds

Summer 2012

6 to 10 August 2012, € 375 for 6-9 year olds and for 10-12 year olds

27 to 31 August 2012, € 375 for 6-9 year olds and for 10-12 year olds

3 to 07 September 2012, € 375 for 6-9 year olds and for 10-12 year olds

The shuttle service between 8 and 9 a.m. and between 4 and 5 p.m. costs € 10 per day.

Children who have a Münchner Ferienpass (Munich Holiday Pass from the MVV) will receive a discount of 5% off the cost of the course.
