English Explorer Day Camp "Travel the World"

English Camp for Kids 7-12: Around the World in One Week!
Be on the lookout! As of this morning, Sioux Indians have been sighted in Munich traveling through the big city prairie. The cowboys can’t be far behind. No, this news was not made up – you have just seen the young travelers of our “Travel the World” camp. On our trip around the globe, we spend a day in America and learn all about the cowboys and Native Americans and American history. After that we continue our travels and visit other countries and continents like England and Australia, then journey to South America and Africa and dive into these cultures each day using our English. Our wanderlust knows no bounds and we get right up close to the most diverse cultures and peoples.
Are you an adventurer? Do you want to get out in the world and experience something new and exciting, to be as free as a bird? Do you want to show your international side? Then this discovery camp will be a great experience for you!
During this camp we will be either out on an excursion or getting ready for one! We make optimal use of our time: we speak English all week, no matter what we are doing. This way we improve your vocabulary and fluency in English. And the best part – you will have an amazing experience along the way!
Our native speaker instructors teach using the Sphairos concept: a creative, playful and active approach. It is not for nothing that our motto is “Learning with a Smile”. In a friendly, protective atmosphere, without pressure to perform, the children are brought to the new language with fun games and activities. Speaking and using the language have priority. Learning in combination with such an exciting experience helps kids really learn English. Learning with Sphairos is not like learning in school!
Learning with all 5 Senses!
Are you a real explorer and want to discover the world for yourself? Then this is the perfect camp for you! Each week our camps have a motto. How would you like your first English-language “Around the World” passport? To earn this important “travel document”, you have some exciting tasks to complete: make a bonfire, make a piñata, hunt like a Native American, solve English language puzzles and much more.
Schedule
On the first day, the instructors will give the children an overview of the week. The rules for behavior and dealing with each other will be explained and projects for the week will be agreed upon.Activities throughout the day will take place inside and outside – no matter the weather. We make sure to switch between “active” and “playful” learning. And of course the children are encouraged and challenged according to their level of knowledge.
The camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Between 8 and 9 a.m. and 4 and 5 p.m., we offer flextime, where the children are supervised but not taught. This must be paid separately.
We have lunch together from 12 to 1 p.m. The food will be delivered by a catering service and eaten on the excursions.
We keep the sizes of the groups small – only 8 to 12 participants maximum. The children will be assigned to groups according to age and prior knowledge of English.
We look forward to welcoming all of our participants!
Location
There are different meeting places on different weeks for our Explorer Day Camps. During the Easter, Pentacost and Fall holidays, the camps take place at the Maria Heimsuchung parish office at Ridlerstraße 90. They offer a lot of space and it is located in Westend near Donnersberger Brücke, between Gollierstraße and Westendstraße.During the summer holidays from 6 August until 12 September 2012, we will meet in the rooms of LEO 61 of the PA/Spielkultur at Leopoldstraße 61. Here we have the space to let our creativity and need to explore run wild. Because of its proximity to the English Garden, which is 10 minutes’ walk away, this location is ideal for the summer.
The meeting places are all easy to reach with public transportation, subway, S-Bahn and bus.
