English Explorer Day Camp "Science"

Induction into the Secret World of Science

Do you want to experience something completely new during the school holiday? And do things that only adults are normally allowed to do? Then come with us on an excursion into the world of adults. Explore the secret world of science on our holiday camp – for 5 days and with everything we need to do it!

Making a fire without matches – does that even work? Yes! And if the sun is shining, we will show you how it works (if your parents let us). With a microscope you can discover a huge tiny world and see things that are impossible with the naked eye. And when we make a bridge out of spaghetti, it sure is helpful to know something about construction and statics. We will see how much your bridge holds. Discovering these and many other things will hold many surprises for you – this week will be exciting as well as educational!

And if you want to be a real scientist, then it is very helpful to be able to speak English! You will be able to discuss and exchange ideas with your international colleagues. We speak English the entire week together no matter what we do, in order to improve your fluency in English.

Our motto is “Learning with a smile” – with a creative, playful and active approach, our native speaker instructors teach using the Sphairos concept. In a friendly, protective atmosphere, without pressure to perform, the children are brought to the new language with fun and pleasure. Speaking and using the language have priority – it is not like learning in school!

Learning with all 5 Senses!

Do you like to get to the bottom of things? Do you want to understand the world with all of your senses? Then this is the right camp for you. Each week of our camps has its own motto.

As a budding scientist, you will bring your thirst for knowledge, hunger for experience and need to explore. Then off we go – on a journey of discovery into the fascinating world of science!

Schedule

On the first day, the instructors will give the children an overview of the week. The rules for behavior and dealing with each other will be explained and projects for the week will be agreed upon.
Activities throughout the day will take place inside and outside – no matter the weather. We make sure to switch between “active” and “playful” learning. And of course the children are encouraged and challenged according to their level of knowledge.
The camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Between 8 and 9 a.m. and 4 and 5 p.m., we offer flextime, where the children are supervised but not taught. This must be paid separately.
We have lunch together from 12 to 1 p.m. The food will be delivered by a catering service and eaten on the excursions.

We keep the sizes of the groups small – only 8 to 12 participants maximum. The children will be assigned to groups according to age and English knowledge.

We look forward to welcoming all of our participants!

Location

There are different meeting places on different weeks for our Explorer Day Camps. During the Easter, Pentacost, Summer and Fall holidays, the camps take place at the Maria Heimsuchung parish office at Ridlerstraße 90. They offer a lot of space and it is located in Westend near Donnersberger Brücke, between Gollierstraße and Westendstraße.
During some weeks of the summer holidays we meet in the rooms of LEO 61 of the PA/Spielkultur at Leopoldstraße 61. Here we have a lot of space to let our creativity and need to explore run wild. Because of its proximity to the English Garden, which is 10 minutes’ walk away, this location is ideal for the summer.
The meeting places are all easy to reach with public transportation, subway, S-Bahn and bus.
